Disclaimer: This post is based on my own experience.

Firstly, you would need to have:

  1. Resume

  2. LinkedIn

  3. Social Media Check (clean any post or images that would impact your reputation)

Building up

  1. Research on any mentoring program in your college (eg. CBE has MAP program by AFEC) as they would provide academic or career advices

  2. ANU Career Hub has many useful workshops

  3. ANU career consultation and CBE consultation (resume, cover letter, interview) are very beneficial (visit at least once) through ANU Career Hub Appointment

  4. CV 360 is an important tool for checking your CV

  5. ANU Library has a list of subscription that is always under-utilised by students

  6. EdX or LinkedIn Learning could get you some new skills

  7. CBE Internship Program, CBE Special Industry Project and MomentuM are programs that assist ANU students to be work-ready when they are graduated

  • CBE Internship and CBE Special Industry take up course credit

  • MomentuM can be done above of normal courses

  1. Go to career fair that is organised by ANU or student associations like AFEC, ASOC, ANU Finance Society or RoboGals

  2. Inside Sherpa would provide you a lot virtual internship (useful for programming students)

  3. ANU Jobs might provide you with well-paid internal opportunities

General Tip

  1. If you have 2 jobs, manage your time efficiently because you can easily exceed the 40 hours cap

  2. You will get tax once you earn more than AUD18,200

  3. Remember to lodge your tax no matter you exceed the tax free threshold or not

  4. Apply to internships during first year to get the application process experience and ace in your graduate job application
